Haringey Council has appointed Willmott Dixon as the main contractor for the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham. The council’s planning committee revealed that the project, the cost of which is £130M, will consist of 294 new council homes on the estate.
Buildings approved for demolition include Tangmere and Northolt Blocks (including Stapleford North Wing). Others include the Energy Centre, Medical Centre, and Enterprise Centre buildings.
All other blocks will be renovated as part of the Broadwater Farm Improvement Programme. Additionally, a Grade II listed mural will be relocated as part of the project.

“I’m also extremely proud of the schemes we’re working on to deliver a new generation of council homes. This redevelopment is a worthy addition at a pivotal point in the estate’s history.
In addition to new council homes at council rent, this scheme will transform the estate by creating open spaces where people want to meet, chat, and play, as well as a new shop, community hub, medical center, workspaces, and street layouts.
A lot of that is due to the fact that this was a resident-led, placemaking proposal. We will continue to collaborate to shape the future of the neighborhood, ensuring that residents benefit the most from the opportunities that the redevelopment will bring.”
