A Oyo Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA) has taken a significant step in advancing community development by disbursing a total of N159,458,373.75 to eleven communities in the state. We have earmarked these funds for a range of micro-projects aimed at enhancing the living conditions and infrastructure of these communities. Among the projects are the construction or renovation of classrooms complete with furniture, borehole drilling, and the establishment or refurbishment of community health centers, among other vital initiatives.
We executed the disbursement of these funds by issuing cheques to the Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) during a two-day training event held in Ibadan. Prior to this, the participants underwent capacity building and training as part of the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program.
Selected Beneficiaries For The N159 Million Disbursement For The Various Micro Projects.
The eleven selected beneficiaries include Ajinde 2 Community in Ibadan South-West Local Government, and Otesin-Maye community in Oyo East Local Government. They also include the Olohunde-Ige community in the Oluyole Local Government and the Ajumose Community in the Iseyin Local Government. Furthermore, we have also included the Ore-Ofe Community in Olorunsogo Local Government and the Ifelanilo Community in Ibarapa North Local Government.
Additional beneficiary communities are the Ayekale Kalubi community in Oriire Local Government, and the Aseyori community in Oyo West. The Oloro-Olomo community in Ido Local Government and the Alaseyori community in Igbojaye. The Itesiwaju Local Government, and the Alubarika/Asabari community in Asabari LCDA, Saki.
Mr. Salaudeen Jelili, the General Manager of Oyo State Community and Social Development Agency (OYCSDA), emphasized that the training was aimed at equipping the Community Project Management Committees with the necessary skills to effectively implement the projects within their respective communities. He highlighted that each community would receive N159 Million for their micro-projects, with the communities contributing 2.5% of the amount, while the State government would cover the remaining 97.5%. This approach is designed to foster a sense of ownership among the communities, ensuring that they actively maintain and sustain the projects.
Mr. Jelili further explained, “During and after the completion of these projects, it is the responsibility of OYCSDA to monitor, technically advise, guide and evaluate for sustainability.”
Chief Folorunsho Ige, the Baale of Olohunde-Ige community in Oluwole Local Government, Ibadan, expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for his comprehensive and encompassing efforts in advancing development in both urban and rural communities within the state.
